JTF Uncovers Lebanese Terror Cell In Kano!!!

The Joint Task Force on Thursday said it had uncovered a Lebanon-based Hezbollah armoury and terror cell in Bompai, Kano State.

The force, which said it found large cache of arms and ammunition, also confirmed the arrest of three persons in connection with the armoury and the cell.

JTF Discovers Illegal Refinery In Kogi State, Arrests Seven

The Joint security Task Force, JTF, in Kogi State has arrested seven persons in connection with an illegal refinery discovered in Emomo village in Okene Local Government Area of the state.

The JTF Commander in the State, Lt. Col. Gabriel Olufemi, who along with the Acting State Commandant of the Nigeria Civil Defence and Security Corps, NCDSC, Kingsley Oguntuwase, conducted journalists around the refinery in Emomo Village, which is five kilometres away from Okene, said the vandals were arrested after a tip-off.

Notwithstanding the frequent arrests of pipeline vandals, oil thieves and seizures of petroleum products, the illicit trade has continued to boom, not only in the Niger Delta, but also in several other parts of the country. But the unwavering determination of the operatives of the Special Task Force on Anti-pipeline Vandalism, instituted by the Inspector General of Police (IG), Mohammed Abubakar, to check the menace yesterday led to the arrest of five suspected pipeline vandals in Lagos.

The suspects identified as Eugene Stanley, Kunle Ogushe, Oluwafemi Bamidele, Komuko Ayekede and James Awolowo, were arrested at 7th Avenue, FESTAC Town, one of the notorious spots for pipeline vandalism in the state.

The suspects confessed that they sell the products to buyers, especially customers at the Apapa area of the state for as much as N6,000 per barrel of 125 litres.

The police were said to have sighted the suspects after they had successfully vandalised and stolen 270 jerry cans of 120 litres of petrol from one of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipelines at Oke Agemo, Ijedodo area near Ijegun in Iba Local Government Council Development Area (LCDA).

As they were wont to do after each operation, the suspects were sailing across the canal behind 7th Avenue in FESTAC Town when they were surrounded and arrested and the stolen products recovered from them.

The Officer-in-Charge of the task force, Friday Ibadin, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), said the operatives laid ambush for the suspects based on intelligence report.

JTF kills 14 Boko Haram terrorists in Kano

Operatives of the  Joint Task Force on Sunday averted another  major attack  by  terrorists  in Kano by raiding  their  hideouts  at  Unguwa Uku area of the ancient city.

The operatives, acting on a tip off,  were said to have raced to the area around 4am  and intercepted a Volkswagen Golf, primed with explosives, which  some terrorists had wanted to use and wreck havoc during the Easter celebration in the city.

Residents of the area  said  the soldiers thereafter  invaded a compound housing the suspected terrorists but were greeted with  explosions.They added that the operatives who were not deterred exchanged gunfire with the terrorists for about four hours.

The spokesperson of JTF in Kano, Ikedi Iweha, was quoted as saying that the task force killed 14 Boko Haram suspects in the raid.

  One of the residents said   it was unclear if most of the terrorists were killed by the Improvised Explosive Devices  detonated by them or by the operatives.

He added that bodies  were seen being  carried out of  one of the   buildings in the compound raided by the operatives while 14 AK 47 rifles, 10 peak milk-size  IEDs, four drums of 50- litre  primed explosives  and   51 other items  in small drums were recovered.

The houses  were  thereafter  demolished while the corpses were  taken  to a morgue.

JTF Kills 2 Gunmen In Kano

The Joint  Task Force (JTF)  in Kano State shot dead two members of the  Boko Haram group,while several others sustained varying degree of gunshot at Gunduawa in Hadeja Road area of Kano on Saturday.

According to a military source, who spoke with Sunday Tribune, the incident occurred at  a JTF checkpoint at Gunduawa, when gunmen in a Sienna bus attempted to attack the checkpoint but were repelled by security operatives.

 The source disclosed that the bus, which had nine occupants, including a woman, was singled out from a long queue for screening by the JTF personnel, when  two  of the men in the bus immediately pulled out their pistols in an attempt to shoot at the security men, who responded promptly  by opening fire on their assailants and gunning down two  of the suspects.

Speaking with Sunday Tribune, an  eyewitness, who did not want his name in print, disclosed  that: “Our vehicle was behind the Sienna bus in a queue caused by the checkpoint. Immediately the military men sighted the vehicle, they moved near it and immediately ordered everyone in the vehicle out in an attempt to screen the occupant. In fact, it was only the Sienna vehicle which was ordered out of the queue, suggesting that they might be working on a tipoff.”

While speaking  with the JTF  spokesman  Captain Ikedici Iweha, by telephone, he confirmed the death of two of the occupants of the Sienna bus and the arrest of four persons, saying  they would face interrogation.

ASP, others arrested for operating illegal fuel depot...

A military Joint Task Force, Operation Pulo Shield 01 has uncovered an illegal oil depot in Calabar, Cross River State, where no less than 8,000 drums of fuel and diesel were stored.

The Public Relations Officer of the 13 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Capt. Joseph James, who stated this on Wednesday, said six persons, including an Assistant Superintendent of Police, have been arrested in connection with the illegal depot.

Conducting journalists around the depot, James said the place was uncovered on Christmas Eve following a tip off.

Panic as soldiers storm Abuja streets...

MANY residents of Abuja were panic-stricken on Monday as heavily armed security men stormed the streets in an apparent effort to thwart the strike of the dreaded Boko Haram sect.

Sources said that the security operatives, who were drafted from the Directorate of Military Intelligence, are members of an elite anti- terrorism squad, which is said to be blossoming in the armed forces.

Some of the security men had their faces covered halfway, imitating the dressing pattern of terrorists.

It was gathered that the massive security lockdown was informed by what was described as “credible intelligence” on possible terror attacks.

For the first time since the Boko Haram conflicts erupted, the elite anti-terrorism squad was deployed to key entry points of the Federal capital on a stop and search mission.

Unlike previous checks, the surveillance was mounted very close to entrances to the city centers such as the City Gate,  Gudu area, AYA junction, Aso Radio entrance, National Assembly quarters,  in Apo,  National stadium areas, among others.

The Joint Task Force (JTF) on Friday revved up its haunt of top members and point men of the Boko Haram Islamist sect by promising a minimum of N10m and maximum of N50m as reward for members of the public who can provide information that would lead to the arrest of specifically listed individuals.
