Facebook to start charging $1 fee...

Any news of changes on Facebook is often met with contempt and even anger by Facebook users who are resistant to change. Now comes news that Facebook plans to charge a small fee of $1 to send a message to the inbox of a user who has not befriended them on Facebook.
Currently, if a user sends a message to a non-friend, the message ends up in the “Other” folder and is treated like spam. But for a small fee, a non-friend is able to spam your main inbox directly.

“Today we’re starting a small experiment to test the usefulness of economic signals to determine relevance,” Facebook said in a blog post. “This test will give a small number of people the option to pay to have a message routed to the Inbox rather than the Other folder of a recipient that they are not connected with.”

Like most changes in the past, Facebook users will kick up a fuss and make feeble attempts to organize protests. But in the end, Facebook users will be assimilated. They will go along with the changes because they’re addicted to the social network.
