Former Chelsea Star, Mutu, Wanted To Adopt "Baby 59"...

The remarkable story of the baby who was flushed down a toilet in China shocked the world this week – not least former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu.

The 34-year-old, who is currently plying his trade for French club Ajaccio, was so affected by the news he planned to adopt the recovering infant.

Unbelievable reports of fire-fighters rescuing the new-born boy from a sewage pipe under a block of flats in Jinhua City, eastern China, flooded the internet and made headlines all over the planet.

Mutu, a father of two, was so upset by the story he immediately made plans to give the baby a new home.

‘I couldn’t figure out how to live, how to eat breakfast when I saw this story,’ he told Romanian TV. ‘That this child lived means he is a special child. Children are the greatest achievement

‘When I saw the baby I said “I must adopt him, he has been sent to me by God.” I’ve never meditated, but when I saw the baby, I thought it was exceptional.’

Mutu’s kind, if slightly strange, offer materialised as it initially appeared that the baby had been unwanted and flushed down the toilet on purpose.

However, thankfully it has since emerged that the whole thing was a tragic accident and thechild has now been returned to its mother who faces no charges.

FGN To Spend N60b On 10 Million Mobile Phones From China And USA

The Federal Government is to procure 10 million telephone handsets worth about N60 billion from China and the US for free distribution to rural farmers across the country.

It means that the federal government would spend a minimum of N6, 000 per unit which it said would be made available to the beneficiary- farmers before the end of March.

Mrs. Ibukun Odusote, permanent secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, said the programme is aimed at establishing direct electronic communication between the government and farmers on agricultural matters, adding that the beneficiaries would be “women and youths” in rural areas.

Odusote who spoke at Igan – Ipabi Community in Ijebu North East Local Government Area of Ogun State, during the sensitisation of the women and young ones on the propriety of taking farming as a viable occupation, explained that the handsets would also be accompanied with Solar powered lamps that would serve as chargers for the phones in the event of power failure.

“ We are talking about 10 million handsets, each handset would be costing, may be N6000 or N4000 because it is in large number. We are not going to buy in pieces like that. We will buy directly from the manufacturing companies. We have agreement with some organisations in China and some in the United States, they are going to provide all these handsets for us because they are also interested in investing in the Agricultural sector in Nigeria. So you have the idea and estimate of the cost” she said

End Of Days: Man Stabs 22 Children At Chinese Elementary School...

A man stabbed 22 primary school students in a knife attack in China on Friday, officials said, the latest in a series of assaults. The attacker “has been detained”, said a spokesman for the Guangshan county government in the central province of Henan, where the stabbing happened.

Via Yahoo Philippines reports:

“Twenty-two elementary school students were stabbed, so was an adult villager” but none of the victims died, the official, who declined to give his name, told AFP.

The state-run China News Service said a man attacked the students with a knife outside an elementary school, resulting in injuries which were “not life threatening”. It did not give the children’s exact ages.

China has seen several violent attacks against children over the past two years, including a spate of five incidents in 2010 which killed 15 children and two adults and wounded more than 80.

I saw the picture of a house earlier today on a friend's blackberry and I was amazed at it's design so I asked where it was. Unfortunately she didn't have an idea of what or where it was...
Luckily I was still on talking terms with Google so i decided to ask him and voilà, there it was! Here's what I found:
Piano and Violin Shaped Building was built in 2007 and situated in the district of Anhui in Huainan City.

This romantic house was designed by the students of the architectural design faculty of Hefey University of Technology with the designers of the company "Huainan Fangkai Decoration Project Co". Here different modern materials have been used, and basically- the black and transparent glass. The building entrance is through a great violin in which there is an escalator that lifts people into a "grand piano". Piano and violin has built to a scale of 50:1. There is a breadboard model inside house that displays various city plans and development prospects in an effort to draw interest into the recently developed area.
