Roberto Mancini struck the final blow in his PR war with Manchester City by paying for a full-page newspaper advert to say thank you to fans.
The Italian, who was dismissed by City after his failure to land the FA Cup, has always been popular among Blues supporters, but has had to endure a number of unflattering reports in the press since his sacking which have been based on information leaked by disgruntled players and background staff members
Now Mancini has hit back by personally funding a full-page ‘thank you’ ad in the Manchester Evening News, seeing as his departure prior to the home game against Reading denied him the opportunity of a farewell send-off at the Ethiad.
The FA Cup, Community Shield and Premier League trophies are all pictured before his personal message, which read: ‘Manchester City Supporters: 3 unforgettable years.
‘You will always be in my heart. Ciao. Roberto Mancini.’
